Beauty queen ‘whose boyfriend threw acid in her face’ reveals her shocking scars for the first time

A beauty queen who allegedly had acid thrown in her face by an ex-boyfriend has revealed her shocking scars on TV for the first time.

Former Miss Italy finalist Gessica Notaro, 28, was attacked outside her home on the east coast of Italy in January, leaving her with horrific burns and fearing she could be blinded. She has spent two months undergoing treatment for her gruesome injuries, which includes wearing a mask for most of the day across her wounded face.

Today she appeared on Italian TV, where she removed a scarf that had covered her face saying she wanted to show viewers what she had gone through.

And even though the TV host told her she could keep her scarf on if she liked, Gessica said: “I want you to see what he did to me. This isn’t love.”
The model, who also worked in an aquarium in her hometown of Rimini, also spoke about how she felt in the immediate aftermath of her ordeal.

She said: “While the acid ate away at my face I was on my knees praying. I prayed to God: take away my beauty but at least leave me with my sight.”
And even though she is on the road to recovery, she is still awaiting plastic surgery and is spending £600 a month on medication for the pain.

After the attack, cops arrested Gessica’s former lover Jorge Edson Tavares, 29, in connection with the horrific assault.
He is currently in jail awaiting trial and denies the charges against him.

The former couple reportedly met in 2004 while working at a dolphin show at the aquarium together.

After appearing as a finalist in the 2007 Miss Italy contest, Gessica worked as a TV presenter.

The couple broke up last summer following a two-year relationship, reports La Stampa.
