Senator Francis Alimekhena has said Magu has been terrorizing senators after his confirmation was rejected by the upper chamber.
Senator Francis Alimekhena has described the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, as a terrorist.
The senator representing Edo north senatorial district made the statement on Tuesday, March 28, during plenary, Daily Post reports.
Alimekhena accused Ibrahim Magu of terrorizing the senate with myriads of accusations of financial scandals against Senators trending in the media.
He said since the Senate rejected Magu’s confirmation, he has resorted to terrorizing them.
Senator Alimekhena said that no day passes without reports of financial crimes against any Senator emerging on the social media.
“Mr President, distinguished colleagues, Mr Ibrahim Magu has been terrorizing us since we refused him confirmation.”
“He is behind all manner of allegations against us in the media,” Alimekhena suggested.
He said President Muhammadu Buhari will be undermining the nation’s democracy by keeping the EFCC chairman in acting capacity.
Meanwhile, It was reported that angry lawmakers in the Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, March 28 threatened to reject all list of appointees that President Muhammadu Buhari sends to the house for confirmation.
The Senators are angry that President Buhari is keeping on the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Ibrahim Magu even after being rejected by the upper house of legislature.
They also took offense at comments credited to the president's close aide Professor of law Itse Sagay who said confirmation by the Senate was just a 'mere' duty.
