20-Year Old Sells Her 2-Months Old Baby For Half A Bag Of Rice And Cement

A 20-year old has been arrested by the police for selling her baby.

The mother, Chioma Fidelis confessed to selling her two months old son, Favour Fidelis, for half a bag of rice, six chairs, cement and N200,000 cash. 

Chioma, who spoke to newsmen while being paraded alongside her accomplices in Imo State, said her inability to cater for the newborn, made her take the decision of selling him.

She continued saying the baby as suffering from kwashiorkor, further prompted her to selling him.

Her accomplice, one Chidimma Unakalamba, was said to have confessed to selling the baby boy to a couple, Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Anyanwu, who allegedly were in dire need of a male child.The baby according to her was sold for N600,000 to the couple. .

The baby has been recovered, though. But a mild drama ensued when the couple insisted that they paid N700,000 for the child. Unakalamba then admitted that she deducted N137,000 she spent on the child’s medical bills, and that she gave the mother N200,000 and pocketed the remaining.
